What affects the price of a Ukrainian-registered car in Georgia

Published:

Two cars that look identical often get different valuations — not by accident, but as the sum of specific factors.

Below is what actually affects a preliminary valuation, and why completeness of information sometimes matters more than mileage itself.

There is no fixed price list and no calculator here: every model sits in its own market context.

Make, model and year

This is the starting point: demand for the specific model and its age set the base range. Within a single model year the spread stays wide — the remaining factors work from there.

Mileage

Mileage noticeably affects a preliminary valuation, but on its own it says little: how the car was used and serviced matters. A car with high mileage and a maintained drivetrain can be valued higher than one with lower mileage and a neglected condition.

We do not use fixed thresholds or percentages: there is no rule such as “above a certain mileage — minus so much”. In the request it is enough to state the mileage and its unit — kilometres or miles — so there is no ambiguity.

Mechanical condition

What matters is how the engine and transmission run, the state of the suspension and brakes, any signs of leaks, and whether the car starts and moves under its own power.

There is no universal scale here either: the same fault affects the valuation differently on different models. You can describe the condition in your own words — exact terminology is not required.

Damage and accident history

Damage does not close the subject of a sale — it simply enters the calculation. The nature of the damage, whether structural parts are affected and what has already been repaired all matter.

There is no point hiding damage: an inspection reveals it and the preliminary reference then has to be revised.

Engine, fuel, transmission and drivetrain

Fuel type, engine size, transmission type and drivetrain influence demand differently depending on the model and the region.

That is why these fields are worth filling in accurately: the same model in different configurations is valued differently.

  • Fuel type: petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric
  • Engine size and condition
  • Manual or automatic
  • Front, rear or all-wheel drive

Trim level and equipment

These are two different things. Trim is the factory version of the car: it shows what the vehicle left the factory with and how it was positioned on the market. Equipment is what is actually in the car now, including options and aftermarket additions.

A known trim and a clear equipment list help to understand the car more precisely, but no single option guarantees a higher price: the effect depends on the model and on demand.

It is also useful to note what does not work: a non-functioning feature affects the valuation differently from its absence.

Photos and completeness of information

This is the factor an owner fully controls. The fuller the data and the clearer the photos, the narrower the preliminary range.

With sparse information the valuation comes as a wide range — not out of caution for its own sake, but because too much is unknown.

  • Filled-in fields instead of gaps
  • An honest description of faults
  • Daylight photos from several angles
  • Separate close-ups of damage

Documents and registration circumstances

Circumstances tied to documents and registration can influence which steps are possible next. Ukrainian registration itself is not a separate coefficient: it does not automatically raise or lower a valuation.

What exactly needs checking depends on the individual case. A companion guide covers documents separately.

Market context

Demand shifts: for some models it is steady, for others seasonal or narrow. The same car can therefore be valued differently at different times.

A preliminary valuation reflects the current situation and is not a fixed price for the future.

Why a preliminary valuation is not a guaranteed final price

A preliminary valuation is built on the details and photos you send. It is a reference that shows the order of magnitude, not a fixed offer.

After an inspection and document check the reference may be confirmed or may change — for example if damage that was not visible in the photos is found. A preliminary valuation gives no purchase guarantee.

How to get a preliminary valuation

The request requires a phone number and city, make, model and year (or photos of the registration document), mileage with its unit, drive type, condition, whether the car is running, and your asking price with currency. The rest — engine, transmission, trim, VIN, photos — is optional.

The fuller the details and the clearer the photos, the narrower the preliminary range. There is nothing to drive to: you can start remotely, from any city in Georgia.

Note. This page is informational and is not individual legal, tax or customs advice. A valuation based on data and photos is preliminary: final terms depend on inspection and document checks. Verify registration and customs requirements with the competent authorities.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. We do not use an automatic calculator: a valuation comes from a combination of factors and the market context for the specific model.

It matters, but it does not decide everything. Mechanical condition, damage, equipment and demand for the model can weigh more.

It is not a separate coefficient and does not automatically change the valuation in either direction. Condition, specification, documents and the market are what count.

The same model in different configurations is valued differently. Accurate details narrow the preliminary range.

It can. The preliminary reference is built on the information you send, while the final amount is discussed after an inspection and a document check.
